Is a 1/2 Carat CZ stone obviously fake?

I want to buy a Promise Ring for my girlfriend online, and I found one that I liked (a simple ring, a silver band with just a single 1/2 Carat Cubic zirconium stone), and I was going to get it, but I told my mom about it and she said that a 1/2 carat CZ stone is big enough to be really obviously not a diamond. I had figured only 1/2 carat wouldn't be too obvious, but would it be very noticeable? It would be a size 5 ring. Thanks!

Yes, it would be obviously fake, I'm sorry to tell you. Why not get a pretty gemstone instead? Does it need to resemble a diamond? If so, you can find some relatively inexpensive smaller diamonds on bluenile.com. Good luck!
